The Panama College of Cell Science, which we like to refer to as the Stem Cell College, has been offering the world’s only online Ph.D. degree in Stem Cell Medicine for twenty years. This doctoral program in stem cell therapeutics is updated annually to offer the most advanced curriculum for learning about the new medicine, which is stem cell therapy.
We were there teaching in the very early years when 25 ml of peripheral blood was collected from patients and expanded to increase the number of Hematopoietic Stem Cells for intravenous administration to the same donors.
We were there teaching methodologies as the field shifted to the use of mesenchymal stem cells harvested from fatty tissue via mini-liposuction, processed and then used for intravenous administration, again back to the same patients.
We were there teaching as platelet rich plasma (PRP) became an important adjunct to orthopedic surgeries, particularly knee replacements, where the PRP was harvested from the blood of the surgical patient, concentrated and then injected into the site of surgery for improved healing.
And we are still here in 2026, teaching about the most advanced stem cell therapeutic available: Light Activated Platelet Lysates, wherein 100 ml of blood is collected from a patient, the platelets isolated and concentrated and then activated with certain wavelengths of light, resulting in platelet lysates containing a myriad of growth factors and cytokines for IV injection that can cure our most serious diseases.
Referred to as either “light activated platelets” or “platelet lysates”, the resulting therapeutic is the same: Growth factors and cytokines released from the platelets being almost identical to those found in stem cell therapeutic fractions, can be used in place of stem cells themselves, with the avoidance therefore of the liposuction surgery.
A lot of practitioners have moved on to the realization that we can now achieve the same results as before but avoid the need for stem cells altogether: Stem Cell Therapy Without the Stem Cells.
Even though the most modern approach is to use light activated PRP lysates for IV injection, we still refer to this procedure as “stem cell therapy”, or a “stem cell therapeutic” due to its derivation from a long history of stem cell methodologies.
As Walter P. Drake, Director, has described in great detail elsewhere:
HIGH-DOSE, LIGHT ACTIVATED, INTRAVENOUS,
PLATELET LYSATE THERAPY:
USING YOUR OWN PLATELETS…
TO GET HEALING GROWTH FACTORS AND OTHER REJUVENATING MOLECULES INTO YOUR BODY
This advanced regenerative therapy helps restore immune balance, reduce inflammation, and promote deep tissue repair.
Whether you’re battling autoimmune disorders, neurological dysfunction, chronic Lyme, post-viral syndromes, aging or chronic disease, this cutting-edge therapy offers hope—and results.
How Does It Work?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a form of regenerative medicine that uses components of your own blood—specifically, a concentrated solution of platelets rich in growth factors and cytokines—to stimulate healing at the cellular level. It has been used in orthopedics, aesthetics, and sports medicine, but Dr. Drake applies a breakthrough enhancement: light activation and high-dose intravenous delivery to treat complex diseases and chronic conditions, including aging.
The Innovation: Light Activated PRP
Unlike conventional PRP therapy, Dr. Drake introduces a new variable—photonic activation. The final step in the processing, which takes about an hour during your visit, is light activation of the platelets via 4-wavelength LED lamps. This “explodes” the platelets releasing not only their growth factors, but also the intensely stimulating alpha-granules, sometimes referred to as “mini-stem cells”- very small embryonic-like stem cells (VSELs) stimulated to proliferate by light activation. The biologically activated PRP lysates are then delivered intravenously to induce:
— Enhanced anti-inflammatory properties
—Improved cellular signaling for tissue regeneration
—Greater immune system modulation
—Enhanced repair processes
thereby making the therapy more powerful and longer-lasting.
WHAT CONDITIONS CAN LIGHT ACTIVATED, HIGH-DOSE PRP LYSATES HELP TREAT?
More and more research reports are building up to demonstrate the beneficial effects of this treatment on:
Autoimmune and Inflammatory Disorders
Lupus
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Chronic Infections and Immune Dysregulation
